Welcome to Day One
Congratulations on completing your first session. Starting a new habit, especially one involving a new technology, takes a bit of a leap. You’ve taken that step, and we are thrilled to have you here.
What You Might Have Felt
During your session, you might have felt a mild tingling, a slight itching sensation, or perhaps a prickling sensation where the pads made contact. You also might have felt absolutely nothing at all after the first few minutes.
If you didn’t feel an immediate shift in your mood or focus today, don’t worry. That is exactly how this works. tDCS (the technology behind your Mave headset) is not like a shot of espresso or an energy drink that jolts your system. Instead it relies on a low-intensity current, which is barely perceptible, to nudge your brain networks.
Right now, you might feel a sense of calm, heightened awareness, or you might just feel like yourself. All are perfect starting points.
What is Happening Underneath?
Every time you use your headset, it works by strengthening the neural pathways in your Prefrontal Cortex (the area of your brain responsible for regulating stress, managing focus, and maintaining working memory).
Your session today began the process of priming your neurons to fire more efficiently, but the true effect lies in what happens when you string these sessions together.
The Next Few Days: Finding Your Rhythm
For the next couple of days, your only goal is to remove friction and get comfortable with the device. Having all been in your shoes on day one, we've learned that the secret to getting started is to keep things incredibly simple:
- Don't overthink it: You don't need to be in a perfectly zen state to do a session. You can read, answer emails, or just sit quietly.
- Look for small windows: Try to figure out where this 20-minute window fits best in your day so it becomes a seamless habit.
The Next Few Weeks: The Subtle Shifts
Over the next few weeks, your brain will engage in neuroplasticity, the process of rewiring and strengthening connections. Because Mave works with your body's natural systems, the changes won't feel like a sudden lightning bolt. Instead, they will show up as an absence of friction:
- A stressful email that normally triggers a "fight or flight" response might feel a little more manageable.
- You might find yourself able to sustain attention on a complex task for just a bit longer before feeling drained.
- Your ability to transition from "go mode" to resting at the end of the day may feel smoother.
When Will I See Results?
While some people notice better sleep or a slight sense of calm within the first week, the most meaningful, structural shifts typically emerge after 3 to 4 weeks of consistent use.
We know that in a world built on instant gratification, asking for weeks of patience is a big ask. But that is exactly the difference between a quick fix that wears off and a genuine, lasting change in how your nervous system handles everyday stress.
Rest up, and we will see you for your next session!
