Welcome to Day One
Congratulations on completing your first session. Starting a new habit, especially one involving a new technology, takes a bit of a leap. You’ve taken that step, and we are glad you’re here.
What You Might Have Felt
During your session, you may have felt a mild tingling, itching, or prickling where the pads made contact. Or you may have felt nothing at all after the first few minutes.
If you didn’t feel a shift in your mood or focus today, that's normal. That's how this works. tDCS, the technology behind your Mave headset, isn't a shot of espresso. It uses a low-intensity current, barely perceptible, to nudge your brain networks.
Right now, you might feel a sense of calm, heightened awareness, or you might just feel like yourself. All are perfect starting points.
What is Happening Underneath
Each session strengthens neural pathways in your prefrontal cortex, the area of your brain that regulates stress, mood, attention, and more.
Your session today began the process of priming your neurons to fire more efficiently, but the true effect lies in what happens when you string these sessions together.
The Next Few Days: Finding Your Rhythm
Your only goal for the next couple of days is to remove friction and get comfortable with the device. Having been in your shoes on day one, we've learned that the secret to getting started is to keep things simple:
- Don't overthink it: You don't need to be in a perfectly zen state to do a session. You can read, answer emails, or just sit quietly.
- Look for small windows: Try to figure out where this 20-minute window fits best in your day so it becomes a natural habit.
The Subtle Shifts in the Next Few Weeks
Over the next few weeks, your brain builds and strengthens connections through neuroplasticity. Because Mave works with your body's natural systems, the changes won't feel like a jolt. Instead, they will show up as an absence of friction:
- A stressful situation that normally triggers a "fight or flight" response might feel more manageable.
- You might sustain attention on a complex task for a bit longer before feeling drained.
- Your ability to transition from "go mode" to resting at the end of the day may feel smoother.
When Will I See Results?
While some people notice better sleep or a slight sense of calm within the first week, the most meaningful, structural shifts typically emerge after 3 to 4 weeks of consistent use.
We know that in a world built on instant gratification, asking for weeks of patience is a big ask. But that is the difference between a quick fix that wears off and a lasting change in how your nervous system handles everyday stress.
Rest up, and we will see you for your next session!
